REVIEW : Nth Ascension / In Fine Initium (2016)

Nth Ascension was formed by TEN's keyboard player Darrel Treece-Birch. After the addition of some well-known musicians, Nth Ascension turned into a five-piece band. Each member brought to the table its influences, heart, soul and, of course, its writing abilities to become Nth Ascension a real band.

Nowadays, Nth Ascension is ready to unleash its brand new record which is entitled "In Fine Initium". From the opening tune of "Kingdom Keys", Nth Ascension makes it clear that its music is deep, emotional and rocks in a unique way. Beautiful keys, progressive lines, crunchy and heavy guitars and, of course, very good melodies are the ingredients of this really superb tune. "End Of Days" is heavier, moodier and has an epic feeling in it. At this point, I have to say that the vocalist Alan ‘Spud’ Taylor has a very 'special' voice that makes the whole project very very interesting.

Next, "So, That Was The Apocalypse", we have an instrumental track that brings back the late 70's, early 80's classic rock scene with style. Amazing keys, Purple-esque rhythms and some really amazing guitar lines compose this excellent tune!!!! "In Search Of The Rider" features a 'darker' and moodier vibe in it and it's again a brilliant song out of the new album.

For sure, this one is one of the most diverse and kinda of 'difficult' records that I've heard this year. It's an album that features beautiful melodies, harmonies, a strong progressive and poetic vibe, excellent performances and a tight musicianship. The fans of the classic rock/progressive sound should do a favor to their selves and check out this little gem.
